Adelphi University’s Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning Clery-reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain non-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Adelphi University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from campus.

Dear Adelphi Community Members,

The Clery Act is a federal law which mandates the reporting of timely, accurate, and complete information about crime and safety both on- and off-campus to members of the university community. This enables students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors to make informed decisions to keep themselves safe and to educate both the campus community and other interested parties about campus policies dealing with campus safety and crime prevention.

The Department of Education requires that this report be sent to all employees and students by October 1 of each year.

The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security, such as policies concerning alcohol and drug use; crime prevention; the reporting of crimes; hate crimes; sexual assault including Title IX; the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013 (VAWA); domestic violence; dating violence; stalking; emergency operations plans including evacuation procedures; the annual fire safety report and fire log, Amanda’s Law and the Kerry Rose Fire Sprinkler Notification Act; missing student notification; timely and emergency notifications/warnings and other matters.
